Gratitude

Gratitude is how I got here. I learned how to be thankful from an early age, but it didn't really sink in to the heart level until young adulthood. I had dropped out of college and moved back home to figure myself out and get a cheaper degree in I didn't even know what yet. I did bible studies about being thankful, read several books dedicated to not just the concept but how to make gratitude a daily practice. My husband and I made lists during rough patches in our relationship and I regularly journaled about it. I even gave my E5 promotion speech about it.

Looking around you and choosing to see the good no matter how difficult it is, is a practice. It's okay to start small; recommended actually! Some days can get so tough you have to remind yourself it's a blessing to have bills to pay, or a bed to lay down and cry in. All of this to say I'm thankful to be here now. I'm thankful to you for reading, to my children for existing, and for my husband who supports me almost no matter how crazy. I'm also thankful he acts as my checks and balances. He is the Aquarian to my Aries sun.

What are you thankful for, dear reader? Who are you, what has shaped you? What was once a habit and is now turned into a lifestyle? If we are anything alike, it's making delicious home cooked meals as our energy levels permit and talking to the trees. Using plants and nature to optimize mental, physical, and spiritual well being. We may have taken these abilities for granted once, but today we come together and celebrate the small things that add up over years and years of repetition! Thank you new friend - for being here.
